In this 3 hour workshop we will explore all the ways in which Pilates can truly help heal people, and how to teach it accordingly. Joseph Pilates wrote that his definition of physical fitness was a “uniformly developed body”. What does this truly mean? How does this lead to health? How do we access it or the lack thereof in our clients, and then shape our teaching so that it actually attains this goal?
I have been exploring this very intention for over 30 years and feel it is the most important goal as a Pilates teacher. However, there’s the belief that Pilates automatically achieves this. I have not found this to be true in today’s world. Nearly 60 years after Mr. Pilates death, people’s bodies have taken a serious downturn in musculo/skeletal balance and posture, and this in turn affects the health of the organs, nervous system, circulatory system, and more. And most importantly, defeats the body’s ability to breathe effectively. Let’s explore how to make your teaching bring your client’s back to life at the most profound level.
