The Pilates Center Teacher Training Program was developed with the support of Romana Kryzanowska and her mentee, Steve Giordano, and officially launched in 1991. Its mission has always been to preserve the original method created by Joseph H. Pilates—and to train teachers who truly embody the system and its deeper intention.
Mr. Pilates was clear: his method was designed to create whole body health through the uniform development of the body. This balanced development allows the body's fluids to circulate freely and powerfully, supporting detoxification and regeneration through what he called “the internal shower.” A strong, flexible spine is essential, and the ability to breathe deeply and “capaciously” is the ultimate goal.
In this workshop, we’ll explore these foundational concepts and examine how to teach Pilates in a way that actively promotes this mission—helping us move beyond choreography into the deeper purpose.
