In this workshop, we’ll break down the difference between coaching and feedback and explore when and how to apply each in the teacher training process. While feedback is essential for the nuts and bolts like choreography, springs, and setup, the art of teaching often calls for a more nuanced, coach-style approach.
Once the foundations are in place, how do we help a trainee grow into their own voice as a teacher rather than becoming a copy of someone else? Our goal is not replication, but cultivation. As Amy has said, her mission was always to teach teachers who could one day teach her.
Anyone who has taken a lesson from Kelli, Kaile, or Amy knows that while their knowledge of the material is rock solid, what shines through is their personality, perspective, and individual style. In this workshop, we’ll discuss how to support that kind of growth and how to use both coaching and feedback as tools to foster confidence, clarity, and autonomy. After we define and differentiate the two, we’ll open the conversation to explore how these approaches can strengthen our community and elevate the next generation of teachers.
