This workshop will explore how the transitions between Mat and Reformer exercises add real value, not only to the results of our workouts but also to how we move through daily life. Transitions, along with order and breath, are the substance of the Pilates method. Together, they create a framework that strengthens the body, sharpens the mind, and deepens the overall experience of the work.
We’ll review several key transitions and discuss how incorporating these three elements—breathing, order, and transitions—increases brain function and concentration, promotes detoxification, supports client autonomy, and helps achieve uniform development more efficiently.
We’ll also revisit Joseph Pilates’ words in Return to Life, reviewing the many benefits he outlined and exploring how breath choreography, the proper sequencing of exercises, and the transitions between them bring those benefits into practice. Throughout the workshop, we will look at how understanding and applying these components enhances not only how we teach, but how we embody the full method.
