This weekend workshop is the second and final installment of our 2025 Archival Program. The material covered will focus on the Chair and Cadillac, as seen in archival film footage and photographs of Joseph Pilates teaching in the early 1940s.
The subtle alterations and variations in form and choreography revealed in this historic documentation provide valuable “new” insights into the purpose and goal of many of the exercises we do today. These archival exercises have deeply inspired and expanded our understanding of the true value of the Pilates method.
Slight tweaks to the existing exercises clarify Joe’s intention, helping practitioners better focus on the intended objective. Rhythm and dynamic emphasis are accentuated, especially in the upper body, leading to a greater sense of power and flow.
All of the material is user-friendly and immediately applicable—it can be shared with clients and adds variety, clarity, and fun to any session.
This weekend can be taken on its own for CECs or applied toward Master’s Program hours.
