“When we restore peace within ourselves, we have a chance to restore peace with others. There is no way to peace. Peace is the way.”
— Thich Nhat Hanh
How do we truly teach something of value? And how do we approach teaching something as vast as peace?
As teachers, we train ourselves to be kind and generous. We practice discipline in how we speak, how we touch, and how we present ourselves. We are well intentioned and deeply committed. Yet there is often tension between what we desire and how we manifest. Sometimes our effort turns inward toward ourselves. Sometimes a lack of confidence creates the same result.
This is part of our development. Some people learn step by step, growing gradually, like walking in a light rain. Over time, we realize we are soaked. In the same way, teaching peace does not live on the surface of effort, but beneath it, like the depths of the sea, steady and unbiased. The Pilates Method holds this same potential when we allow ourselves to work from a larger view.
This workshop will be inspired by Debora’s Joe Talk on Pilates Anytime, shared not to tell a personal story, but to reflect how easily we can lose sight of the deeper purpose when we focus on learning the right things for “others.” When we remember that there is no separation, we return to what is shared. The same hopes, fears, and desires live in all of us.
This workshop is an invitation to pause, reflect, and share what is alive for you. What is present in your teaching, your practice, and your experience right now? France July 2026.
